Itinerary

Day 1TUESDAYS- Desert Quiver Camp or alternative, Sossusvlei

Overnight: Desert Quiver Camp or alternative – FB Basis.
Your guide will meet you at the previous overnight accommodation in Windhoek city at approximately 08H00. Our journey today takes us south west to Namib Naukluft Park. We enjoy the last hour drive south all the way to Rehoboth on tarred road and turn off east on gravel road driving amongst mountainous surrounds in the horizon all the way to our destination – hold on tight it’s going to be a bumpy drive.
Lunch will be at the lodge upon arrival.
You can spend the rest of the day partaking on an optional sundowner drive on the lodge property or on a quad bike activity at an additional cost or just spend the after at leisure by the pool or reading a book.
Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Overnight: Desert Quiver Camp
Desert Quiver Camp uniquely combines modern self-catering accommodation with comfort and style. Conveniently located a mere 5km from the entrance gate to Sossusvlei, the inspiring scenery characterised by granite outcrops, spectacular views and roaming wildlife will captivate your senses.
The 24 uniquely designed self-catering accommodation units have spacious bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, shaded patio areas and private parking. Each twin-bedded bedroom features a fold-out sleeper couch to accommodate 2 small children (under 12) free of charge when sharing with 2 full paying adults. The patio is equipped with a barbeque facility, a fitted kitchenette with under counter fridge and 2 plate hob and a wooden bench for seating. Utility boxes with most utensils needed are available at reception and fresh food supplies can be ordered daily.
Leisure facilities within Desert Quiver Camp include a bar with a big screen television, a sparkling swimming pool overlooking the grasslands and Elim Dune, 2 communal bomas which are perfect to cater for groups travelling together, and a reception area that has WI-FI connectivity.
Meals can be enjoyed at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge restaurant and their Adventure Centre offers a range of exciting desert activities to explore the area.
A fully stocked shop, fuel and an Internet café is available at the Sossus Oasis Service Station.

Day 2Wednesday – Sossusvlei

Overnight: Desert Quiver Camp or Alternative on FB basis + Morning visit to the Sossusvlei, Dead vlei & Sesriem
Our guide will collect our breakfast packs from the restaurant area, while we wait energising our bodies with some biscuits, tea and coffee. We drive towards the Sesriem gate and enter the park once the gates open up, hopefully we catch the sunrise from what seems to be behind the magical sand dunes, we proceed on the tarred road placed in the middle of the sea of sand and stop exactly 45km from the Sesriem gate at Dune 45, if you are up for it you can test your skills by climbing this dune before we proceed to the end of the tarred road all the way to the 2×4 parking, we make sure to take along enough water in our back packs, a camera, sun cream, hat and sunglasses. We will get on 4×4 shuttles as the dune sand towards Deadvlei as the section after the 2×4 parking cannot be driven by inexperienced 4×4 drivers – you will get stuck. We will then get off and walk to Dead vlei – This magical picturistic destination was an area where once the Tsauchab River used to flow and over many years this river dried up, encircled by huge red, breath taking dunes and the trees that once stood in the passage became petrified dead wooden trees only left with branches in different forms and shapes, we challenge ourselves on climbing BIG DADDY – The highest dune in the world. We proceed on foot to see what other wonders we can find along the way including climbing yet another dune – perhaps BIG MAMA. We head back to exit the Sesriem gate for lunch at a nearby Lodge. We then proceed on to Sesriem to Discover this Canyon before heading back to our accommodation.
Dinner will be served at the lodge.
Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei is where you will find the iconic red sand dunes of the Namib. The clear blue skies contrast with the giant red sand dunes to make this one of the natural wonders of Africa and a photographers heaven.
Aside from the attractions at Sossusvlei – Dune 45, Hiddenvlei, Big Daddy and Deadvlei – other attractions in the area include the Sesriem Canyon and Namib-Naukluft National Park, where the mountains of the Namib meet its plains.

Day 3Departure

After breakfast, we make sure to collect all our belongings, and we make our Journey back to Windhoek. Alternatively you can partake in an optional morning hot air ballooning excursion and have a birds eye view on the highest sand dunes in the world – followed by a champagne breakfast and a nature drive back at an additional cost.

Your guide will drop you off at the Windhoek International Airport, or at your accommodation in Windhoek.

END OF SERVICE…
WE WISH YOU A WONDERFUL & MEMORABLE JOURNEY IN NAMIBIA!

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Due to the limited capacity of some lodges in Namibia, the management of the reservations offices are very strict for all A la Carte and Group bookings! The wait lists will be confirmed or not 60 to 30 days before the date of reservation of the lodge in question. On the assumption that the initial lodges would have no possibility to confirm within the given time mentioned above, the customers will automatically be booked in lodges proposed in option with supplement/reduction (within the framework of the supplements, this price change will not be charged to Hansen’s Booking Agency CC). The customer thus accepts this rule of the waiting lists and the consequences which could result in tariff changes, changes of category of lodges or certain stages of the trip. On the contrary, the client can withdraw and cancel the trip within 15 days as from the reception of the reservations status. For last minute reservations – that is less than 30 days before the date of arrival in Namibia – the withdrawal time will be 48 hours as from the reception of the reservations status.
FORMALITIES: The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of return. 3 blank pages are compulsory (of which 2 should be back to back when open) the customs office of the country where you are departing from can refuse the passenger to board the flight if these requirements are not met. Each customer is only responsible to check the validity and the conditions of his passport according to his nationality and the formalities in force of the country in which it goes. In no case can Hansen’s Booking Agency cc be held responsible for the generated consequences (delay, cancellation of certain stages, repurchase of plane ticket etc…) if one or more of the customs formalities or health are not respected by the customers.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: No travel insurances (luggage, cancellation, etc…) are included in our tariffs. It is strongly advised to not travel without any of these insurances.
